After simple CF and IS computation, with worsening RMB appreciation against HKD, I am paying at least half of my salary to live in China... Hard to imagine how I can survive in HK with my limited income with consideration of my salary's growth rate which cannot even catch up with the inflation. The gap is widening but I can do little about it.
Theoretically if I cannot generate more income then I can only reduce my expenses. BUT I have already cut all expenses that I can reduce from my personal hobbies, meaning I have to move on to the next phase to change my living style so as to reserve more for cost savings.
Being a HK engineer working in China used to be great;
Being a HK engineer working in China with China's great inflation was still okay;
Being a HK engineer working in China with China's great inflation and continuous RMB appreciation has been getting tougher;
Being a HK engineer working in China with China's great inflation, continuous RMB appreciation and a family to support is no doubt painful;
Being a HK engineer working in China with a family to support in HK and a salary's growth rate that can hardly catch up with the sum of RMB appreciation and inflation rates will be certainly greivous...
今時不同往日,風光不再;
日後將更淒厲,不堪設想。
